Prayers for this talented actor, O Reader. That’s all we can offer — and, indeed, given the noted virulence and mortality rate of pancreatic cancer (my wife informs me that this particular form of cancer is almost always a death warrant), perhaps all we can ask for is that Mr. Swayze’s suffering not be undue.
I’ve not been the biggest Partick Swayze fan, but I do have to admire the way he has thrown himself at any number of roles, seemingly never afraid to push his own boundaries and exceed the expectations of his audience. He was probably the only actor in Hollywood who could have played Sam Wheat well.
