Pic of the Day #599
tagged British Columbia, Nanaimo, Newcastle Island, saturation and Vancouver
This is a tiny part of Newcastle Island, which is just off the coast of Nanaimo, British Columbia.
There isn’t actually that much to say for this shot; I liked the way the trees kind of sloped downward, and I loved the way the rocks had arranged themselves at the level of the water, so I took a photo and hoped for the best. This picture shaped up rather nicely in post, and I admit that it’s one of my favourites from all those I took while Grace and I were out in Vancouver.
In particular, I like that the water and the sky actually delineate quite nicely, and I love how the green of the trees just stands out — which owes more than a bit to the saturation adjustments I made. I also really tweaked the shadows in this picture, trying to eke as much contrast out of the scene as I could.
