Rehmat responds to my ‘child bride’ comment

Also, he still thinks I’m Jewish. Weird.

And if I read him correctly, he seems to be suggesting that the disappearance of some 2,000 Muslim female children — most of whom were likely sold into s — is justifiable by the fact that…uhm…he can’t properly quote from the [1], and from the fact that some Jewish rabbis might have said something about three-year old girls. Maybe. But he can’t be bothered to link to a source.

Oh, also: the forced marriage of thousands of Muslim girls under the age of ten is also, by his logic, justified by the fact that the is thought, by some scholars, to have been thirteen or fourteen years of age when was born. Which would have been, actually, pretty normal…in that day and age, some 2,000 years ago.

Well done, Shaukat Khawja. That’s some solid reasoning you have going for you there: it worked 2,000 years ago…why can’t it work today?

really is trapped in the , isn’t it?

Also, was nine when her marriage to the (false!) prophet was consummated. That has been attested by multiple historians, and is essentially beyond debate.

* * *

1) Numbers 31:17-18 (which Rehmat cites) reads thusly:

[17] Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.
[18] But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Numbers 31:35-40 reads thusly:

[35] and thirty-two thousand persons in all, women who had not known man by lying with him.
[36] And the half, the portion of those who had gone out to war, was in number three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep,
[37] and the LORD’s tribute of sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.
[38] The cattle were thirty-six thousand, of which the LORD’s tribute was seventy-two.
[39] The asses were thirty thousand five hundred, of which the LORD’s tribute was sixty-one.
[40] The persons were sixteen thousand, of which the LORD’s tribute was thirty-two persons.

I’m not sure which Biblical translation Rehmat is using — I expect it’s the REV, the “Rectally Extracted Version” — but wherever he’s getting his quotes from, he needs to re-think it as a source.

Also, it should be noted that in Jewish theology, there is no way to turn Numbers 31:17-18 into a broad justification for taking women for later sexual use; the injunction which grants in that chapter is specific to the time and place, and only applicable in the battle against the Midianites[2].

Unlike in Islam, in which Muhammad’s paedophilic marriage to Aisha is, evidently, a model to be emulated.

2) That doesn’t make it right, of course, and I can’t help but think that Matthew 19:8 is applicable, in principle, to Moses’ instruction here. But the point is that this instruction, however detestable, is also specifically limited in its application.

Seriously, Islam: stuff it!

tagged , , , , and

Dear Islam,

If you want to be taken seriously as a world religion, there’s something you have to accept: people will attack you, people will mock you, and people will attempt to undermine you. And if you approach each incident thereof with violence and threats of violence, it will just confirm the suspicion of many in the West that yes, is a violent and disgusting . You’re going to have to learn to accept books like , just as you’re going to have to learn to accept that people will take a long, hard look at your (false!) prophet and his marital relationship with a nine-year old girl, .

Christians have had to endure this stuff for centuries, and now it’s your turn.

In all seriousness: stuff it.

Imams, stop playing the “nice country you have here…shame if something were to happen to it,” game and tell the violent idiots in your congregations to put the gas and matches away, and to stop chanting about death and beheading at each and every instance of an insult being levelled against Islam, , or some other aspect of your strange little cult. Either get your people in line, or expect that sooner or later, the government of the nations that have so graciously agreed to host you and let you build mosques will have to do it for you.

Grow up, in other words, and stop poking. You might find you won’t like what you accidentally awaken.

Regards,

Islam’s solution: “..kill him, kill, kill… You have to kill him, you understand?”

Watch the whole thing:

Amazingly, the reporter — — seems oblivious to the fact that the exhortations to ritualized murder are quite in line with ic teachings and the sayings of . And yet there it is, plain as day…and this at one of the most prominent mosques in .

If someone converts away from Islam? “We kill him…kill him, kill, kill… You have to kill him, you understand?”

If someone is an adulterer? They have to be stoned to death.

If someone is a homosexual or tranvestite? “…the punishment is kill, kill them, throw them from the highest place.”

The religion of peace…or, perhaps more accurately, pieces.

Netherlands recognizes polygamous Islamic marriages

tagged , , , , , and

Polygamy is still illegal there, of course, but only if the marriages happen within the proper. If you skip the jurisdiction and get hitched in, say, some n country where polygamy is a-ok, then it’s “no harm, no foul” as far as the authorities in are concerned!

Although is banned in the Netherlands, the marriages of Muslims who have several wives are recognised by Dutch authorities.

Registrars in the major cities, in particular, record dozens of bigamous or polygamous marriages per year. These marriages are prohibited and an offence in the Netherlands. However, polygamous marriages that take place in countries where more than one wife is permitted, such as Morocco, are accepted, newspaper NRC Handelsblad reports.

If immigrants with several wives settle in the Netherlands, the local authorities register all the marriages. However, the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS), where all marriages are registered nationally, removes these bigamous or polygamous marriages from its files, on the assumption that administrative errors have occurred. As a result, it is not known how common the phenomenon is in the Netherlands.

Two questions.

First: why did we send Canadian soldiers to fight and die to liberate this country back in the 1940s?

Second: why accept an illegal polygamous arrangement just because it is legal somewhere else? In some parts of the world, it’s legal to marry a six-year-old girl, because that’s what did. In some parts of the world, it’s legal to have sex with a nine-year-old girl, because that’s what did. Does the Netherlands allow paedophilic marital arrangements as long as the nuptial ceremony takes place in…say…?

If so: why (also, see question #1)? If not: then why allow something else with is both illegal and immoral to flourish and be “legitimized” within the country, simply because the relevant nuptial ceremony took place on foreign soil?

On the other hand, it should be observed that the Netherlands doesn’t really have a legal leg to stand on in this matter. I do believe that they have recognized gay marriage as a “right”, haven’t they? If the gender of participants in a marriage doesn’t matter, why should the number of participants matter?
