Murdered by Islamism

I missed the anniversary of Hrant Dink’s murder by a few days, but was reminded of it by this article at GetReligion. A little over a year ago, Dink — a Turkish- journalist — was murdered in after publishing articles concerning the Armenian genocide.

His words were taken as an affront not only to Turkey, but to , and a young man murdered Dink, a Christian, shortly after saying his (Islamic) Friday prayers. As I noted back then, a non-Muslim speaking critically of a majority-Islamic nation takes his life in his hands. And in this case, someone else decided to snatch that life away.

I still applaud ’s courage in refusing to back down on the issue of the Armenian slaughter — that was a dark period in history that Turkey has still not acknowledged for what it truly was (that is: genocide).
