Pic of the Day #1106
This shot has always been interesting to me; there’s just something at once mysterious and enchanting about how the sky can be such a radiant yellow beneath the cloud that cuts across the middle of the frame, and such a pleasant blue above it.
This is another balcony shot from the Rosemont Place apartment.

The Mixed Chorus begins its season with a welcome picnic and activity day, which is always held immediately after the first Saturday rehearsal.
I rather liked photographing this egg-carrying game; there were a lot of good “moment” shots to be had. (Case in point.)

Pic of the Day #1103:
Shortly after I moved into a fifth floor apartment at Rosemont Place (near Commonwealth Stadium), I realized that the apartment’s east-facing balcony offered a basically unobstructed view of the horizon; mine was the last tall building for (literally) miles.
This furnished me with countless opportunities to capture images of sunrises, as evidenced by this example thereof.
This photo was retouched ever so slightly in iPhoto.

Pic of the Day #1102:
This photo was taken from one of the topmost floors of the taller of the two Telus towers in downtown Edmonton (that is: the one actually used by Telus). There’s a fair bit of grain in the shot, but it’s still the best shots I’ve taken — in terms of angle — of downtown Edmonton. I’ve had few other opportunities to get a view from this high up.

Pic of the Day #1101:
One of a series of pictures of what little of Edmonton’s skyline I could see from my office in the ATCO Building in downtown Edmonton.
This photo was, in particular, edited a little bit in iPhoto; it was here I discovered that the “Enhance” feature is often useful for “removing” windows from shots taken through them. The image also shows off, rather impressively, the dynamic range that the Powershot A70 is capable of under the right conditions.
The First Presbyterian Church, a rather pretty red-brick building, also features in this shot.

Pic of the Day #1100:
I’d just gotten a 2X teleconverter for my A70 at this point (late in the summer of 2005) and was experimenting with it when I grabbed this shot of Grace.
It’s one of my favourite photos, both of Grace specifically (wearing my jacket, no less) and from the A70 in general. My only gripe with it is that I wish I knew what the cause of that glowing blue-green ball of light in the lower-left area was.
