First Letter Ever!

Hey Ken, just wanted to say I agree with your view and it’s very disappointing that people are quick to criticize an instituition and its leader without looking for meaning beyond what they see. good points!

A fellow Ultima fan checks in!

Hi,

What’s up? My name is Andrie. I stumbled to your website through the Ultima IX: Redemption website. Having browsed through your website, I found a lot of your writings pretty interesting. And I think we have a lot in common: student, programmer, dreamer, Christian, have read The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, in engineering (I’m in Electrical Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the USA), and obviously, a fan of Ultima. I’m really looking forward to Redemption! Nice work! Nice website and I hope we can get to know each other more. :-) God bless.

KEN REPLIES: Wow, through the U9R forums, eh? Do you post there at all, and if so under what name? And have you checked out any of the other Ultima mods out there? Lazarus, perhaps, or Lost Sosaria?

That is a fascinating lot of similarities we share, it is true! This would be my…well, coming to the end of my fifth year of engineering now, and I am both still not done (that’s an elective choice) and still not certain where I want to take my life - in what new direction, as it were - when I do finish my degree. I haven’t found that niche yet that I really fit into (apart from game development and website development).

It is always refreshing to meet people, especially through the Web, who share in the Christian faith. I’m curious, if you don’t mind my asking, which denomination you’re a part of (Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Anglican/Episcopal, etc.)? And how are you finding engineering - are you just starting out in this field, or is this something you’ve been at for some time now?

I see you have a Hotmail email address, which means I can add you to my MSN list (and once I hit send on this, I’m doing just that!). I hope we can speak again in the near future, but until then take care and God Bless!

Praise from a Southern Baptist!

Your website… the home for catholic doctrine….I think I need to ask forgiveness from Christ for just going there…..

KEN REPLIES: This might be mean-spirited of me to remark upon, but you’ve set it up so nicely.

Ahem…yes, I can see how you might feel the need to ask forgiveness for visiting a site that might deepen your understanding of God. Wouldn’t want the Father to think you’d actually learned something, would you?

I kid, I kid…and while I do not always make it apparent, I have great respect for the faith of my Protestant bretheren. That said, I do tend to regard the Reformation as being a grave sin on the part of Luther and the other Reformers, for it split asunder, perhaps forever, the body of Christ’s faithful.
