More violence in Hobbema

Alberta’s troubled Native reservation was rattled again this weekend
by the murder of 20-year old Delena Dixon.
The situation in Hobbema has, I think, long been untenable, and it is getting to the point where nothing short of an armed intervention by either national law enforcement or the military is going to sort out the problem of the armed, hyper-violent gangs that plague this community.
Of course, the whole concept of reservations needs to be overhauled, if not done away with completely…but that is a different discussion, and probably not one that most would want to have in the immediate wake of this tragedy.
