A survey of Muslim students in the UK recently revealed some disturbing statistics, including:

  • 40% support law being introduced to
  • ~ 33% believe in a global ic caliphate (also based on sharia law)
  • 40% believe men and women should not be allowed to mix freely
  • 25% believe men and women are unequal before Allah (and I think we can bet who they presume has the greater worth, can’t we?)

And to be perfectly honest, I’m actually fine with the idea that people hold these beliefs, if that’s their choice. I can’t dictate a correct decision to them, and if they’d rather follow the teachings of the (false) prophet , who am I to demand that they do differently? That will be between them and in the final summation…and I can’t imagine God smiles too kindly on those who follow the militaristic, violent teachings of a paedophile and butcher from 6th century Arabia.

Equally, though, I’m totally fine with the idea that if people want, and choose, to hold these beliefs, they are welcome to do so in a country where e.g. sharia is in fact the law of the land. They are most unwelcome to do same in a Western nation.

Update: Welcome, Steynians!
