This shot is a testament, I think, to how much power — and, by extension, — puts in the hands of photographers. The above picture is the sky during a sunset, and I love the colours in it — those rich red and orange hues are just heavenly.

Here’s the thing, though: they aren’t really there.

What I did was apply a few different presets, including some heavy adjustments and some funky colour calibration tricks. I also experimented a bit with a concept called , which basically involves adjusting the hues and saturations of all colours (globally) within the highlights and shadows of an image. The principal effect of split toning seems to be to red-shift the image, but more complex effects can also be achieved with it.

At any rate, in this case, it transformed a rather plain shot into something memorable.
