Pic of the Day #663
This one was a lot of fun to put together, and was done almost entirely in Lightroom (I used Photoshop for a bit of skin retouching, but could probably have achieved the same effect by using the Clarity slider).
Essentially, I dropped the saturation of every colour save red down to -100, and then used the Brush tool in Lightroom to quickly remove (by painting on additional layers of global desaturation) any traces of colour from the main body of the image, leaving only the hazy red in the background on the right and the red on Grace’s fingernails and in her glass.
That’s Clamato juice, by the way.
Once that was done, I used the same brush tool (albeit with a much smaller brush size) to paint layers of increased saturation onto the image over Grace’s fingernails and glass. The results, I think, are quite acceptable, and demonstrate just how powerful an artistic tool Lightroom can be.
