Pic of the Day #615
May 26, 2008
This was the boat we were partying on.
Initially, I hadn’t thought this shot was good enough to post as a Pic of the Day, but when I applied the usual mix of edits to it in Lightroom, I was pleasantly surprised at how it went from being an ordinary, “nothing spectacular” shot to a rather punchy, visually pleasing image. I love the subtle warm tint on the boat from what little sunlight was getting through the clouds to the West, and I can’t stop staring at the way the water reflects the lines of the boat.
Even just applying the calibration/Punch preset did wonders for the picture, and made it more or less into what the Reader can see here. A few adjustments to the shadow intensity and contrast rounded the image out.
Oh, and another thing: I’m caught up again on image write-ups.
