Time Immortal

This picture was taken on request from Grace.

It’s just the hazy sun on the gray sea, but I do like the silvery quality visible in the picture. Taking pictures on cloudy days doesn’t always work out well — if, by “well,” one means that one gets a series of punchy images at the end of the day — but every so often some compelling pictures can result.

Edit-wise, the primary edit I applied to this shot was some vignetting to the bottom corners, to highlight the sunlight on the water in the middle of the frame. The calibration/Punch preset came in handy here, and I adjusted saturation values a bit for several colours to make the image more…uniform in terms of colour. I also adjusted the shadow and contrast levels quite heavily, the better to bring out subtle details in, e.g. the clouds.
