Pic of the Day #588
April 29, 2008
What would a boat be, if it didn’t have life preservers?
Well…a boat without life preservers, I guess. And therefore illegal, if memory serves. But who knows, these days?
At any rate, I decided to try my hand at getting off a shot of four life preservers racked up along the main deck railing of the ferry. I don’t think it worked entirely, although I’m pleasantly surprised at how the colours turned out in the image. I haven’t really made all that much use of the Vivid preset in Lightroom — or, at least, I hadn’t made use of it before beginning to edit the photos for this trip to Vancouver.
Since undertaking that editing process, I’ve used it half a dozen times, and always to great effect. This picture is another demonstration of that fact, as the preset really brought out the colour of the life preservers, and also greatly enhanced the contrast. Coupled with a bit of Clarity boosting, this picture was quick to edit and turned out very nicely.
