I tend to think of this sort of thing as “Stockholm Syndrome writ large”
100 Saudi women petition Saudi government to not move ahead with its plan to grant women the “right” to drive in that country. Doing so, said women claim, would “cause mixing of men and women and to the removal of the veil.”
You know, they may have a point — were I a woman, I’d be leery of “mixing” with a Saudi Arabian man without benefit of headscarf. Wouldn’t want to be seen as “uncovered meat” or anything.
