I’ve Moved!

So I’m sure that most people have noticed that the site has been offline for a few days. There’s a reason for that, which I will get to shortly. But first, let me just say this:
In fact, I am blogging at a new site I have just finished setting up: kennethhynek.net. A full explanation for the reasons behind the move can be found here

That said, this is not the end of Time Immortal. My wife Grace has expressed interest in taking over blogging at this domain, and I am working to make sure that she gets set up here as soon as possible.
Also, my profound apologies for the modification to the site face; the move was not as seamless as I would have hoped, and many of the image files for this theme, and in the gallery, were corrupted during the course of their evacuation from my previous web host’s servers. Until such time as I have repaired them, I’ve put a clean-looking template in place of the previous one.

Thin-Skinned Bronze Age Muslim Bullies Boss People Around–Again
This time it’s in Malaysia. A reader writes:
The (Muslim) authorities want non-Muslims to stop using the word “Allah” to describe God.The suggested alternative is “Tuhan“, but that actually means “Lord“, or at least is used in more or less the same way we use “Lord” in English (which I can verify first-hand, having gone to Midnight Mass this year in Indonesia, where the phrase “Tuhan Allah” turned up a lot).

Any Maronites in Malaysia apparently will have to abandon their ancient tradition in order to accommodate Muslim “sensitivities”, yet again.I can’t begin to tell you how little I am coming to care about offending Muslim sensitivities.
I cannot begin to describe to the reader just how much that closing sentence resonates with me. I’m also taking it, then, since Christians are not — according to Muslims — supposed to refer to God as ‘Allah’, that we can stop using the tired old argument that God and Allah are the same being, just known by different names?
