Womens spines evolved to carry extra weight during pregnancy

As fascinating as this ‘discovery’ probably was to the research teams…

The scientists determined that a woman’s lower spine evolved to be more flexible and supportive than a man’s to increase comfort and mobility while bearing the weight of her developing child.

Lead researcher Katherine Whitcome of Harvard says a woman’s lower spine has enhanced curvature that allows her during pregnancy to shift her centre of mass more squarely over the hip joints to prevent strain and pain in back muscles.

…this is yet another example of scientists spending money to confirm the bloody obvious.
