I’ve Moved!

November 20, 2008

So I’m sure that most people have noticed that the site has been offline for a few days. There’s a reason for that, which I will get to shortly. But first, let me just say this:

I AM NO LONGER BLOGGING HERE

In fact, I am blogging at a new site I have just finished setting up: kennethhynek.net. A full explanation for the reasons behind the move can be found here.

That said, this is not the end of . My wife has expressed interest in taking over blogging at this domain, and I am working to make sure that she gets set up here as soon as possible.

Also, my profound apologies for the modification to the site face; the move was not as seamless as I would have hoped, and many of the image files for this theme, and in the gallery, were corrupted during the course of their evacuation from my previous web host’s servers. Until such time as I have repaired them, I’ve put a clean-looking template in place of the previous one.

Update: for the purposes of further traffic shaping, new posts from kennethhynek.net will be excerpted below. Full articles can be read at the new blog.

The Barefoot Bum has tagged me with the Random Facts Meme. It’s been a while since I’ve had a good meme, so I’ll play.

  1. All right, here are the rules.
  2. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
  3. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
  4. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  5. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

So…facts, facts, facts…

  1. I practice my Catholic faith in the Western Rite, although I was baptized in the Eastern Rite, and in my formative years tended to identify more with the Eastern Rite than with the Western. In fact, I really, truly became Catholic in the Eastern Rite, and the transition to Western mystifies me to this day for how unintentionally and how inconspicuously it happened.
  2. I watch about five minutes of television in an average week.
  3. Despite being 5′11″ and on the order of 180 lbs, I have a lung capacity of only 3.5 L (which means my lungs have not grown at all since I was 12 years old)
  4. Because of (3), I cannot run more than a couple hundred meters without having to slow to a jog in order to catch my breath…and after about a kilometer of running I’m useless. However, I can ride my bike to the tune of a couple hundred kilometers and still have energy (and air) to spare.
  5. My first job was bookbinding.
  6. I don’t really play computer games anymore. I’m building one, though.
  7. My last three laptops have all been Macs, and my last three desktop PCs have all run Windows.
  8. I leave my camera at home by special request only.

Now, who shall my victims be?

My fiancé, Grace
Krystle
Myles
Laura
Kyle
Yursil
NB Tory Lady
My ‘cousin’ Erin
