I’ve Moved!
November 20, 2008
So I’m sure that most people have noticed that the site has been offline for a few days. There’s a reason for that, which I will get to shortly. But first, let me just say this:
In fact, I am blogging at a new site I have just finished setting up: kennethhynek.net. A full explanation for the reasons behind the move can be found here
.
That said, this is not the end of Time Immortal. My wife Grace has expressed interest in taking over blogging at this domain, and I am working to make sure that she gets set up here as soon as possible.
Also, my profound apologies for the modification to the site face; the move was not as seamless as I would have hoped, and many of the image files for this theme, and in the gallery, were corrupted during the course of their evacuation from my previous web host’s servers. Until such time as I have repaired them, I’ve put a clean-looking template in place of the previous one.
Update: for the purposes of further traffic shaping, new posts from kennethhynek.net will be excerpted below. Full articles can be read at the new blog.
Pic of the Day #235
May 14, 2007
From sunrise to sunrise. It really is almost impossible to tire of a beautiful sunrise, and at this time of year especially there always seem to be some interesting ones on display. This is especially true when the clouds are quite visible in the shot and serve to frame the light.
Once again, this was a “from the balcony” capture, and with the 50 mm lens (which, I’m learning, is my lens of preference when shooting in to the Sun — the stabilized lens needs to have the Sun dead-centre in the frame for there to be no flare to speak of (a fact I am tempted to turn into an argument for the acquisition of an ND4 filter, but for the time being will not).
The lovely thing about Lightroom’s Direct Positive filter, and the ability to define other preset image adjustments as well, is that some photos can be post-processed in only a couple of clicks. Like this one. I have a preset made for applying sharpening and a bit of noise reduction to ISO 100 sky pictures, and it works like a charm.
Where was this taken?
