I’ve Moved!

November 20, 2008

So I’m sure that most people have noticed that the site has been offline for a few days. There’s a reason for that, which I will get to shortly. But first, let me just say this:

I AM NO LONGER BLOGGING HERE

In fact, I am blogging at a new site I have just finished setting up: kennethhynek.net. A full explanation for the reasons behind the move can be found here.

That said, this is not the end of . My wife has expressed interest in taking over blogging at this domain, and I am working to make sure that she gets set up here as soon as possible.

Also, my profound apologies for the modification to the site face; the move was not as seamless as I would have hoped, and many of the image files for this theme, and in the gallery, were corrupted during the course of their evacuation from my previous web host’s servers. Until such time as I have repaired them, I’ve put a clean-looking template in place of the previous one.

Update: for the purposes of further traffic shaping, new posts from kennethhynek.net will be excerpted below. Full articles can be read at the new blog.

Pic of the Day #168

March 7, 2007

Another late night, another late-posted Pic of the Day.  Curses and all that. I wish I could say it was for as mentally/spiritually fulfilling a reason as the last late posting, but…well, whatever.

At any rate, I snapped this picture this morning, and had a little bit of fun with in it Lightroom afterwards, applying a direct positive filter and a few highlight/shadow tweaks.  I’ve got Lightroom configured with a few presets now that automatically apply sharpening and noise-reduction levels to the photo, customized according to ISO setting.  This being an ISO 100 shot, it required fairly minimal correction in that regard.

It’s getting back into the season where I wake up and actually get to see a sunrise before I leave the apartment in the morning, which is nice; there’s something relaxing about darting out to the balcony just before I head out and snapping a picture or two.  This shot was essentially an “off the cuff” thing; shot with the 50mm lens, which is the lens I typically keep on my camera when it’s in my backpack (the 17-85mm lens is a bit long for that), and I did literally just grab the camera and step out onto the balcony two minutes before leaving for work.

Where was this taken?
