I’ve Moved!
November 20, 2008
So I’m sure that most people have noticed that the site has been offline for a few days. There’s a reason for that, which I will get to shortly. But first, let me just say this:
In fact, I am blogging at a new site I have just finished setting up: kennethhynek.net. A full explanation for the reasons behind the move can be found here
.
That said, this is not the end of Time Immortal. My wife Grace has expressed interest in taking over blogging at this domain, and I am working to make sure that she gets set up here as soon as possible.
Also, my profound apologies for the modification to the site face; the move was not as seamless as I would have hoped, and many of the image files for this theme, and in the gallery, were corrupted during the course of their evacuation from my previous web host’s servers. Until such time as I have repaired them, I’ve put a clean-looking template in place of the previous one.
Update: for the purposes of further traffic shaping, new posts from kennethhynek.net will be excerpted below. Full articles can be read at the new blog.
Pic of the Day #153
February 20, 2007
It’s been a busy week thus far as I prepare the last bits of footage for the slideshow I’m making for my Scout group’s banquet at the end of the week. Collecting hundreds of photos into a 30+ minute presentation, trying to give the presentation a consistent look and feel as regards chapters and titles, selecting and lining up music…it’s all very time consuming.
And this year, there’s a bonus of sorts:
Because the group wants DVDs this year, I’ve been busy compsing menus, DVD labels, and DVD box covers as well, which consumes more or less every free minute I have left.
Fortunately, pictures taken only a few seconds to capture.
This is a stack of labelled DVD boxes that I’ve left at work, since on Friday I’ll have to do some of the final DVD burning at the office. The disc inside them contains the slideshows I made in 2005 and 2006 (details can be found here), and I’ll be adding the disc for the 2007 slideshow when it gets burned on Friday.
The picture itself was fairly straightforward: I perched the camera on a stack of CDs and aimed it at the DVDs, and then set the timer and left the camera to take the picture. That makes this a more or less unaimed shot as well, since given where the camera was relative to the edges of the shelf I was unable to look through the viewfinder. Using the timer let me use low ISO (100), and since the camera was balanced the long shutter speed didn’t really matter a whit.
Where was this taken?
